I want to bring to your attention how semi-hated I have become.
I took a realistic stance on subpoenas; an objective one, as the daughter of a trial lawyer. I did not defend subpoenas that are “warrantless” and ridiculous; rather, I did say it was wrong. I had no idea I was going to piss off my friend “Going Like Sixty“, since my statements were purely objective.
Now, I consider Going Like Sixty my friend; I had no idea that he would get riled up at my explanation of how fucked up the system is, but it is what it is. Frankly, I guess I did a shitty job of explaining that I thought that the subpoena of a person’s records for a ridiculous thing is completely “wonky”, to use Jester’s term.
So I’m checking out my inbound links, and I find a post from Goin’ Like Sixty where I am listed both in the title and in the content of the blog entry. Okay, no worries. But he lists me as an “unemployed daughter of a trial lawyer”. Seriously, was that necessary? Is the unemployed part supposed to relegate me to the status of uninformed? Was it meant to piss me off? Or was it just meant to belittle me?
I am tired of being belittled and attacked. In both cases that have occurred this week, I honestly did nothing wrong. I was attacked by both people for absolutely no reason. This one bothers me the most, however. I have never known Going Like Sixty to be an attacking person. But the statement is blatant. What did I do to you? Why do you attempt to belittle and discredit me by listing that I am an “UNEMPLOYED daughter of a trial judge?” That’s just an inappropriate dig.
Am I unemployed? Yes. But what does that have to do with my objective understanding of the law?
Maybe I am doing something right by pissing people off. Certainly is not my intention, but apparently people don’t understand the point of “objective” discussions.
I’m not bloggin’ for awhile. Yes, you win. I just think it’s ridiculous that some people take things so personally. Especially one blogger I consider my friend. So you win; I am not blogging either anymore, or for awhile.
**sigh**

I took last week off and it was good. I think we all get way too caught up in the networld, and it gets intense. I also think people are suffering from spring fever and recessionary stress and taking it out on everyone else.
It’s just not worth it. If you want to blog - blog. Stop tracking your traffic and links and do it for youself. Seriously. Isn’t that how things started anyway, back when it was fun?

Avi: I know. I bet you get hatin’ too. I am just burned out.
Kyra II: You are right. Blogging has become a chore for me. I still love reading others’ blogs, but it is indeed terribly time consuming. But for the most part, it’s worth it, because I love my blogfriends. Maybe I do need to be sensitive that everyone is on edge these days. It never occurred to me to blame it on the recession, since the hate has nothing to do with it. I am guilty of getting bitchy when I am in a bad mood or things aren’t going well, but I have no problem apologizing. I have gotten used to it, and I think that it’s a talent that most of us need to learn.
This one just really put me out in left field because he is my blog friend, and it just came out of nowhere. I had no idea he could be a hater. He’s never been that way before.

I feel for ya, I’ve had a lot of that hatin…a lot. It’s hard not to let it get to you when they really poke ya but try to ignore it…it’s the best way to piss them off.

I agree with Avi on this one — some people are in it to get a rise out of others. If you need a break, take a break. We’ll be here when you get back.
I do, however, reserve the right to describe you in a manner most funky when I link to you next — so you’ll have something to look forward to when you check your inbound traffic.

Ugh, so much crap happening in the last week that my brain almost can’t take any more. I think I’m going to have to shove a red-hot poker up my nose and excise some of these brain cells that are caught up in all the drama.
Obviously, you should do whatever you need to do for you. Don’t feel obligated to post. As Kyra said, do it for yourself.
Naturally, however, I expect you to read my blog every day, even if you ignore everyone else.

One of the two major reasons why I don’t blog.
Better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open mouth and remove all doubt.

Robin:
you getting hated on? That actually really surprises me!
Karl:
Yeah, I am going to do 20Q wednesday, cuz Metalmom got her answers in and they are really funny.
Dad:
I am SO using that as my tagline from now on. Most people think I am a fool regardless.

PS: Dad, I didn’t know that you were still reading my blog. Good lord, how embarrassing.
10 Hilly // Apr 7, 2008 at 4:36 pm
A small word of Hilly advice. Anyone who is actually your friend would not write a post like that about you. They’d have the decency to take the disagreement to a private place like email.
I’d write off anyone that would write a post about me like that…either they are not as close to me as I thought or who wants someone like that in your life?
It’s hard to rise above…that is sort of what I was talking about in my post today. Some days it takes every fucking thing I have not to reach through my screen and spork people to death but the more I ignore, the better I feel!

DAMN girl, that sucks. I totally agree with what Hilly said - a true friend (blog or IRL) would have taken it private.
Hang in there…

Hilly:
You are so right. I was just wondering about the linkback, and poof, there it was. I think I will ignore them for now.
Tug:
Yeah, it’s been a tough 7 days, has it not? I am ignoring it all from this point forward. I am indeed going to take a little break, like Hilly did, but if I feel like putting something out, I will.
13 Robin // Apr 8, 2008 at 6:23 am
Shit yeah, I’ve been hated on a lot before. Right now? I think I’m being hated on by a usual group (outside of blogging) but it’s hard to tell…they do this friendly hating thing where you just sit there and get punched in the face without really knowing it.

Hilly hit the nail on the head. As a veteran of many net wars from long long ago… I ignore the drama for the most part. I have better things to do with my time. If someone can’t be nice, I don’t read them. (That excludes Avitable who is really funny when he’s not nice.)

WHO HATES YOU???? I’LL CUT ‘EM!!
(cuz I roll like that)
Some bloggers have taken time off by only posting once or twice a week. As long as you feel like you have to something to say, say it. I’ve said it before-It’s your blog and you can say what you want. If you get a bad comment, just reply”whatever” and move on. I don’t hold a grudge on the internet. It’s easier to say things online than it is face-to-face and sometimes that’s where some folks spill their bile. Don’t take it personally.
I luvs you!
Come on man. You know you want to say something!
