San Francisco Here I Come!

August 1st, 2008 · 18 Comments

San Fran, hands down, is my favorite city in the whole US.  I have to call it San Fran because I live in a city called Frisco.  Hence, confusion abounds if I call it Frisco.

I will be going to San Fran for three weeks for boot camp (a intensive program to learn a particular product).  I am so excited.  I have spent a considerable amount of time in San Fran on customer sites over the last few years, and it is an AWESOME city.

What I am really excited about is the weather.  See, we have had like, 17 days of 100+ temps here.  We are even beating out Phoenix, which is hell on earth.  No one even goes outside.  Our electric bills are $700+ (for those that live in those stupid giant boxes of houses that Dallas loves to build).  I live in 1600 square feet, and half of it is shut up and the vents are turned off.  July and August bills will be about $300 due to the increase in electricity rates.  And I keep my house at 81 degrees just to try to reduce the bill as much as possible.  81 degrees in a house sucks.

But I digress.  I just checked the ten-day forecast for San Fran.  Fifties in the evening, sixties during the day. OH MY GOD!!! I cannot TELL you how exciting that is!!!  To spend almost the WHOLE month of August in perfect weather!!! And to not have to deal with the 106 degrees that we are going to hit next Monday.  If I had a penis, I would jizz myself.

Plus, there are some bloggers that live in the area that I really want to see.  They read my blog, so I am hoping that they get the message.  I did let them know that I am coming, but unfortunately, have not heard back from them.  So this is my shout-out to those bloggers.

I can’t wait.  I love that city.  If I had 100 million dollars, I would move there in a heartbeat.

So for those Texans sitting in the 106 degree heat, just think of me, in my well-reknowned sweater set, in San Fran where it is in the sixties during the day, just lapping it up like a hungry dog that hasn’t eaten in ten days!

Well, that is one place that I have never been. I’ve been to LA a couple of times, but never northern California.

    Watch out for pod people.

No one that I know where I come from (Monterey County) EVER said Frisco. It was always San Fran, SF or the city. I think people who don’t live in California are the ones who call San Francisco Frisco or call California Cali. I shudder at both. You’re either NoCal or SoCal to me. Never Cali. That just makes me think of Mexicali which is a totally gross place. Have a great time in SF. If I could afford to drive up and meet you, I would.

That’s one metro area I’ve never been anywhere near, and I see nothing that will take me there in the foreseeable future. I’ve been to LA, San Diego, Sacremento, and the very eastern part of northern California (Tahoe), but never anywhere near The Big Frisco.

    Have a Good time!

I’ve been to San Fransisco years ago, and it’s nice scenery and went over the Golden Gate Bridge.

I’m totally in love with San Fran and if I could just talk the hubby into it we’d be living there right now.

    Sigh.

Can I stow away in one of your suitcases? I don’t eat much, but I would drink every bit of alcohol you had in your luggage.

    :-)

    Hey, *I’m* a Texan.

    :)

Wish I could spend 3 wks in sanfran rights about now, too. I don’t even mind the heat too much, but I can’t stand hearing everyone else complain about it :)

    Have a fantastic time!

Don’t think I was included on the list of bloggers to meet, but I’d like to meet YOU. I just moved from the 75214 (Lakewood) to the 94501 (Alameda). Let me know if you’re getting together for drinks or anything. I’d love to be included. -V

Sorry I haven’t responded to you guys yet. I got all busy getting ready to travel, and I totally botched. Sorry about that.

In San Francisco now. We went to this poofy french restaurant last night with a snotty french waiter that we tried to make laugh. We know that he was in the back with the chef “Tracy” just bitching horribly about the Americans out there, and the vulgar one in jeans (NOT ME this time).

The food was good; but it was that ornamental, super-model-sized portion. Either way, the wine was good and we had a good time.

We have cold and rain here! You’re welcome to it! This time last year I was in TX basking in the heat and loving it - although I didn’t actually have to do anything much all day seeing as I was on vacation ;o)
SF always looks gorgeous - definitely on my list for when I win the lotto *sigh*

Hey ‘Surd. You expressed interested earlier, so I’d like to see if it would be OK to “Tag” you to come up with the next Saturday Scavenger Hunt word. If you have a bunch of photos of San Fran, you can work your word around them. I was going to email you on this, but can’t find the address. So, this is not a tag, since you are new to it. Please let me know if you are interested! Thanks.

Hey D-man. You know what? I haven’t taken any pictures because we haven’t been down to downtown yet. We have stayed in the San Mateo, Redwood city area. I am really sorry about that.

Can you catch me on the flip side? I will probably be going to DC soon.

Slut: I promise I will come back soon. I haven’t been in a good place these days, and didn’t really feel like blogging.

‘Surd: No problem at all! I am tagging Evil-E. There is always time to do this later, if you want. It’s a no-pressur “meme”. I’ve also read your most recent post and am thinking of a comment.

Come on man. You know you want to say something!
