I don’t know who to vote for. I need your help.

March 2nd, 2008 · 13 Comments

I am going to vote for Hillary or Obama in the Texas primaries on Tuesday. I don’t know how to vote for. I watched most of the debates. My problem is mostly strategy rather than who I like best.

My dad indicated that if Hillary wins the primary, it’s pretty much a slam dunk for McCain. If Obama wins, McCain will have a run for his money, so to speak.

Here are my points of interest:

  • Healthcare
  • The war (I don’t want to just pull out)
  • The economy
  • Our national budget

So, I would greatly appreciate your opinion. I am going to try this polling thing that Kyra used the other day, but I would greatly appreciate any comments that you have, without creating a major debate. Just your opinion. Yall please don’t get into a major debate.

Thanks!

I am not going to vote again this year, and I have not voted in a long time. I will eventually get around to writing a whole post on the subject on my own blog.

My main thing right now is that I don’t think that there’s anybody running for anything who would really represent me and vote how I would on most things. Right now I would be concerned with stuff like healthcare and then maybe English First (or maybe call it English Only). I’ve never heard of any candidates making those two things their main concern. Or if they are concerned about them maybe they are against them or something.

So I will not be voting or advising anyone else how to vote or any of that this year.

When I heard that Hillary was on the board of directors for Wall-Mart, that pretty much sealed the deal for me. Wal-Mart is evil. An important issue for me this time is illegal aliens but in the long run I don’t think anyone will really do anything about it.

This election is hard, although it’s nice to finally have topics aside from and abortion, no that these are important) I’m Republican mostly because my family was and when I registered it just felt natural to put that on my ticket. Anyhow I’m not a fan of McKain - I can’t explain it, there’s just something there. I’m not a fan of Hilary or Obama either. I think if it came down to it I would probably vote Hillary. I know Obama has been credited with ’speaking well’, but that’s my issue. I worry about his maturity level and experience. Not to mention, from my own experience people who talk good are full of BS. All that talk is to make up for something that’s missing. I’d use an example, but I fear it being taken the wrong way so I’ll leave it at that.
So, that probably didn’t help you any, but atleast you know you are not alone!

I am French, so I don’t get to vote. But from what I’ve seen, and from what I’ve heard, I’ll go for Hillary. Obama called our president a wonderful person, that sealed the deal for me.

Wow, look how close the results are now!

    1. Slut:

I will probably not vote in the main election. Since I live in Dallas, Reps will take the state anyway. But I do want to vote in the primaries.

    2. Matt-Man: You think so? I am not sure. This is such a hard decision for me.

    3. L: My problem is that Bill will be involved. Although he did a lot of good things, the only presidency where we had “co-presidents” was FDR. Of course, his wife was awesome.

    4. Robin:

I didn’t know that. And then, Obama is not supposed to be taking PAC money, etc, but then they said he really is indirectly. I don’t know if that’s true or not. I am not educated enough.

    5. Donna, you make some points that I am right with you on. First of all, Obama talks in generalities. He speaks like MLK. He does talk about his agenda, but it’s vague and ambiguous. He is young, and inexperienced. I just don’t know who’s healthcare plan is better. Obama’s sounded better, but then again, all I really know about Hillary’s is how Obama has slammed hers. I think she is the most experienced, and I wouldnot vote for either *just because* one is a woman and one is black. I think that has a lot to do with this election. I vote republican mostly, and am a registered rep. But I really don’t like McCain. He is just to the right of Attila the Hun. He’ll never get abortion overturned. The best balance we always have in teh history of the US is if we have a dem in the white house and a rep congress and senate. Always works out very well. I am trying to figure out who to vote for so that we have the best candidate for the actual election.

Thomas: You seem to agree with most. I am taking everyone’s information under total advisement. I am leaning toward Hillary, but I do fear what she might do. I am kinda hoping that she will take Obama on as her running mate, but that may be too much for a change (woman and black man in the white house). But it just may work.

BTW, for those of you who are responding and don’t normally read my blog, thanks so much for taking the time to vote! I hope you stick around and continue to read my blog! I will return the favor.

Well, I wouldn’t vote for either, but that’s just me. I’m more of a moderate, apparently, and tend to side with conservatives more than liberals. I do think that Hillary has been doing very poorly of late and if she doesn’t make it on Tuesday’s contests, she’s pretty much out of there.

On top of what I’ve just said, I just want to add that Hillary is not the angry bitter woman she sometimes appears to be on tv. She has to fight, this is not an easy race. Obama has got some great ideas, and I’m sure he’d be a terrific president, but it still looks like he could learn a little more. Hillary may be more suited for the role as she’s definitely more experienced, and might not be as a pretty talker as Obama, but knows where she’s going. Promise, no more comments after this one :)

I work for Obama’s campaign so my vote is ridiculously obvious. I’m not voting for Hillary because I think she’s just like every other shady politician who puts herself before the people. I do not like her connection with the special interests she says she fighting against and I also have a problem with her touting experience when in my opinion, she didn’t really accomplish too much other than CHIP.

I have a whole laundry list of reasons I voted for Obama. Although I disagree with some of his ideas they are the same ideas that Hillary has. They are very similar on their policies. I love that he graduated from Harvard Law and then went on to do pro bono work for people who couldn’t afford legal aid. That’s unheard of. I tend to appreciate his judgement on issues like Iraq. Hillary is now saying that he voted for the same thing she voted for but she is misrepresenting it. After the war had begun, he voted for more money to finance the soldiers but he disagreed with the war outright.

This election seems to involve taking a chance. I know that I would much rather take a chance on Obama than a chance on Hillary. I think that she’s a business woman before she’s aleader of people. That being said, I’d still vote for her over McCain if it came down to it. Problem is… Obama has all the independent votes and if it’s him vs MCCain come november, he’ll win. If it’s Hillary, all those independents will go to McCain and that scares the shit out of me.

There are thingies on the internet to help you decide which candidate to vote for. This is a great one:

During this week’s Hellenistic Astrology retreat, we learned through decennials that Obama clearly beats Hillary in the nomination process, but there is no clear prediction in Obama vs McCain. Secondary progressions, which I still have left to understand, are supposed to help me with understanding McCains path as the stars indicate.

It also looks like *if* Obama is president, he makes a major military action in Sept of 09 (assumed to be Iran I suppose).

You heard it here first, folks :)

Well, it would appear that I need to vote for Obama.

I will go with that, since they seem to have similar agendas.

    Thanks all for playing!

Come on man. You know you want to say something!
