Microsoft Vista sucks worse than…

September 5th, 2007 · 3 Comments

any other operating system that they have released. Even Windows 98.

I had to buy a new laptop last Saturday while on the road. Unfortunately, I am still on the road, which means I can’t blow this OS away and put server on, which I need. So I am stuck with Vista for the week.

Let me tell you something. You can’t pee without Vista popping up a notification saying, “Whoa… You can’t do that with permission. Do you want to give yourself permission?”

I changed the security settings for IE, because I would really like to actually browse the web. Once you change your settings, a message will remain at the top for all of eternity telling you that you changed your settings from what Windows wants you to have. Why give us the option at all?

And, there is no more advanced tab so I can turn off “http friendly error messages”. WTF is that about? I have to have that to determine what is going on with a page that I can’t access.

Oh, and EVERY TIME I want to run a program that is not a Microsoft program, a thing pops up asking me if I really want to do that.

AND, exploring the computer SUCKS. I MEAN SUCKS!

Here’s how it goes:

1. Open Microsoft product.
2. Computer: just fine.
3. Open any NON-Microsoft product.
4. Wait three minutes.
5. Computer: “Are you sure you want to do this? You must give permission to open this application.”
6. Me: “Um, okay, I give myself permission to open this application.”

Me on IE:
1. Try to open a website.
2. Business website requires ActiveX control.
3. Me: I have enabled signed ActiveX controls, and prompts for unsigned.
4. My computer: Opens website, and sits there.
5. Me: “What the fuck is your problem?”
6. Computer: “I suck”.
7. Me: “Um, you gonna even PROMPT me to install the control?”
8. Computer: “uh uh. ”
9. Me: Reset the settings. AGAIN.
10. Computer: “Okay. Here’s the popup”.
11. Me: Clicks on the popup and selects “Install ActiveX control”.
12. Computer: nothing.

And it goes on and on and on.

What a stupid fucking operating system. NOT user friendly at all.

I’ve been increasingly annoyed with Office 2007. I still like it more than I dislike it, but many of the semi-advanced things that I use in Outlook, Word, Excel, etc are hidden and NOT easy to find.

Maybe Microsoft is making these changes to Vista and Office 2007 so when they embrace an open technology it seems so much better?

Microsloth’s Vista: the best advertising for Apple that Apple never came up with.

Microsloth supports open source - HA - it’s own version, which it wants everyone to adopt as the international standard. That idea got shot down last week at the international open source convention on standards.

I am going to move to an iMac in the near future. I too have had it with Microsloth’s bloatware.

K, totally stalking your blog now.

Can you believe I have to start training everyone on how to use Vista in October?

    (yay.)

Come on man. You know you want to say something!
