Funniest comedian I have seen in quite some time

January 29th, 2007 · No Comments

Tonight, quite by chance, I was watching Comedy Central after I got home from the EVIL grocery store.  My DVR thought it was recording Scrubs.  I sat down at the computer, as I usually do about 12 hours a day, and heard this guy in the background (TV is on in the background almost always).  His name is Demetri Martin.

I just about DIED when I heard him, and I stopped everything to watch him.  Although he is somewhat of a prop artist, he is fricken’ hilarious!  I just about died through the whole show.  He seems to have a “Steven Wright” influence, as he puts things together that you would not think of.  He is also somewhat absurd, which, of course, you know I would like.

I highly recommend that you try to catch his special on Comedy Central, or DVR it.  This guy is worth seeing.  His website leaves a little to be desired right now, but he is apparently adding content to it.  You can also visit his myspace site.

The joke I loved the most kinda went as follows.  Let’s hope he doesn’t mind my butchering it here.

“I love rainbows.  I have a rainbow shirt that I wear.  But I have to put a caveat under the rainbow that says that I’m not gay.  I don’t have anything against gay people, so I have to add ‘but I support them’ underneath that.  It’s unfair that a group of people took over refracted light.  I mean, how greedy can you be?”

He says it so much better.
